Great Weather After All & Great Racing At Tuesday Night Worlds

So its Tuesday now and after a long day of school it was time to pack everything up and get ready for Tuesday Night Worlds. I was extremly happy because the bad weather wasn’t going to be a factor after all. It was due to roll in around eight o’clock, well after the A flight’s race. Honestly, it would had been a total bummer if it would have stormed because then I would have had to ride on the rollers by myself for two hours, and I think we all know how boring it gets compared to riding outside, not to mention that I would of had to wait whole extra week to get to race and that would have drove me absolutely crazy.

When I finally got to the course about twenty minutes or so before go time I started to notice that it was getting really dark and sure enough it started to sprinkle. However, about six minutes later it stopped and the sky’s started to open up and it turned into a beautiful 69 degree partly cloudy evening perfect race weather.

So when we finally got started about two laps into the race and a couple of short pulls later, I saw Kenny start to move up right before we got to the little hill and I immediately knew what was about to happen. Sure enough, Kenny suddenly launched an attack right on the hill and me seeing him move up I jumped right as he went, sprinting like crazy I looked down and saw Garrick and Shadd sprinting up to us. The attack was beautifully timed and it couldn’t have been a more perfect time to do it, since everyone seemed to be a little flat. So I really got to give props to Kenny on that great move, and because of it I was launched into the winning break.

It took like a split second for Shadd, Garrick, and Mark to bridge up to me and then Shadd just kind of amped it up and put in an absolutely insane pull around about 36 miles per hour to rip the gap open. Game, set, match, there was no looking back.

So thirteen more laps went by till we would see one to go and the second to last corner Mark was kind enough to give Shadd a little lead out and just like that with 200 meters to go Shadd, Garrick, and I started to sprinting. Sadly I did not take home the gold but I did end up with the bronze. Garrick on the other hand had an absolute insane jaw dropping sprint to nip Shadd at the line for first place. Shadd I will say showed us all why he is the king of the corners around these parts. He just rails them like no one else.

After the race Garrick and I took a couple of cool down laps and chit chatted about the ride. Which is about the time when I got a text from my Dad saying its time to go, he seemed a little antsy about getting going, but it was dinner time. Obviously I’m home now about to chow down on some good organic pork chops, pasta, and some green beans. Then its off to the shower and hit the hay.

Tomorrow I have a much needed hour long recovery ride. Man, I love bike racing!
