All the waiting is over, the day has finally arrived and we started things out on a plus with a major upgrade when it comes to the dorms we are staying in on the NAU Campus. We got hooked up in the athletes dorm with our own private suites and even more important our own bathrooms.
I arrived around 10:30 and got my room and said goodbye to my parents. After that I had some lunch and got ready for our first group ride, which turned out to have a slight delay since the fire alarm went off and we all had to evacuate the premises for about an hour.
Anyway, we finally got off and did some pace-line work and really just everybody got used to each other. After that it was stretching and showers then dinner and rider orientation along with camp team announcements. This is basically the assignment of which 4 guys you will be on a team with during camp.
Tomorrow the fireworks will start nice and early with our first ride being an uphill TT. I’m pretty amped about it and can’t wait to get the show on the road.
Blogs will be somewhat short for now during camp since there are so many things going on. We basically start around 7am and we are either riding or going over tactics or eating and then riding again. It pretty much looks like; eat, test, meeting, stretching, eat, race, stretching, eating, meeting, bed for the next 5 days.
I will get into the real meat and potato’s after the camp but for now I will stick to the high lights of the day.
